لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ شَىْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَٰلِمُونَ
None of the matter belongs to you: whether He turns to them in mercy or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers. The commentaries carry the occasion together: it came down at Uhud, when the Prophet's face was wounded and he despaired aloud of a people who had bloodied their own prophet.
اس معاملے میں آپ کا کوئی اختیار نہیں: چاہے اللہ ان پر رحمت سے متوجہ ہو یا انہیں عذاب دے، کیونکہ وہ ظالم ہیں۔ مفسرین اس آیت کے پس منظر پر متفق ہیں: یہ غزوہ اُحد کے موقع پر نازل ہوئی جب نبی کریم کا چہرہ زخمی ہوا تھا اور آپ نے افسوس سے کہا تھا کہ ایسی قوم کیسے فلاح پائے گی جس نے اپنے ہی نبی کا چہرہ خون آلود کر دیا۔
