لَّقَدْ سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ قَوْلَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ فَقِيرٌ وَنَحْنُ أَغْنِيَآءُ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا قَالُوا۟ وَقَتْلَهُمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَنَقُولُ ذُوقُوا۟ عَذَابَ ٱلْحَرِيقِ
God has heard the words of those who said: God is poor and we are rich. We will write down what they said, together with their killing of the prophets without right, and We will say: taste the punishment of the burning. The commentaries carry the occasion together: it was said in mockery when the call came to lend God a beautiful loan.
اللہ نے ان لوگوں کی بات سن لی جنہوں نے کہا: اللہ فقیر ہے اور ہم مالدار ہیں۔ ہم ان کی یہ بات لکھ لیں گے، ساتھ ہی انبیاء کے ناحق قتل کو بھی، اور کہیں گے: جلنے کا عذاب چکھو۔ مفسرین اس موقع کا ذکر ایک ساتھ کرتے ہیں: یہ بات طنزیہ طور پر اس وقت کہی گئی جب اللہ کو اچھا قرض دینے کی پکار آئی۔
