فَلَمَّا وَضَعَتْهَا قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّى وَضَعْتُهَآ أُنثَىٰ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا وَضَعَتْ وَلَيْسَ ٱلذَّكَرُ كَٱلْأُنثَىٰ وَإِنِّى سَمَّيْتُهَا مَرْيَمَ وَإِنِّىٓ أُعِيذُهَا بِكَ وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ ٱلرَّجِيمِ
When she delivered she said: my Lord, I have delivered a female. God knew best what she had delivered, and the male is not like the female. I have named her Mary, and I place her and her offspring in Your protection from Satan the rejected. She had expected a boy, because it was boys who were dedicated in this way.
جب اس نے اسے جنم دیا تو کہا: اے میرے رب، میں نے تو ایک لڑکی جنی ہے، اور اللہ بہتر جانتا تھا کہ اس نے کیا جنا ہے، اور لڑکا لڑکی کی طرح نہیں ہوتا۔ میں نے اس کا نام مریم رکھا، اور میں اسے اور اس کی اولاد کو شیطان مردود سے تیری پناہ میں دیتی ہوں۔ اسے امید تھی کہ لڑکا ہوگا، کیونکہ اسی طرح صرف لڑکوں کو ہی وقف کیا جاتا تھا۔
