قَالَ رَبِّ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِى غُلَٰمٌ وَقَدْ بَلَغَنِىَ ٱلْكِبَرُ وَٱمْرَأَتِى عَاقِرٌ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ ٱللَّهُ يَفْعَلُ مَا يَشَآءُ
He said: my Lord, how can I have a boy when old age has already reached me and my wife is barren? He was told: so it will be; God does what He wills. The question is not doubt but the ordinary reckoning of what a body can do, and the answer sets that reckoning aside.
زکریا نے کہا: اے رب، مجھے لڑکا کیسے ہو سکتا ہے جبکہ مجھ پر بڑھاپا آ چکا ہے اور میری بیوی بانجھ ہے؟ کہا گیا: ایسا ہی ہوگا، اللہ جو چاہتا ہے کرتا ہے۔ یہ سوال شک نہیں تھا بلکہ یہ جسم کے عام حساب کتاب کا سوال تھا، اور جواب نے اس حساب کتاب کو ایک طرف رکھ دیا۔
