كُلُّ ٱلطَّعَامِ كَانَ حِلًّا لِّبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ إِلَّا مَا حَرَّمَ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تُنَزَّلَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ قُلْ فَأْتُوا۟ بِٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ فَٱتْلُوهَآ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَ
All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel forbade himself, before the Torah was sent down. Say: bring the Torah and recite it, if you are truthful. The commentaries agree on the argument: the prohibitions they attributed to Abraham's religion began with Jacob's own vow, and their own book proves the date.
سارا کھانا بنی اسرائیل کے لیے حلال تھا سوائے اس کے جو یعقوب نے تورات کے نازل ہونے سے پہلے خود اپنے اوپر حرام کر لیا تھا۔ کہہ دیں: تورات لے آؤ اور اسے پڑھو اگر تم سچے ہو۔ مفسرین اس دلیل پر متفق ہیں: جن چیزوں کی حرمت وہ ابراہیم کے دین سے منسوب کرتے تھے وہ دراصل خود یعقوب کی نذر سے شروع ہوئی تھی، اور ان کی اپنی کتاب ہی اس تاریخ کو ثابت کرتی ہے۔
