فَقَالُوا۟ رَبَّنَا بَٰعِدْ بَيْنَ أَسْفَارِنَا وَظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْ أَحَادِيثَ وَمَزَّقْنَٰهُمْ كُلَّ مُمَزَّقٍ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُورٍ
But they said: our Lord, put long distances between our journeys, asking for empty stretches so that they could lord it over the poor. They had grown insolent with the favour and tired of ease. And they wronged themselves, so God made them into tales that people tell and scattered them completely. In that there are signs for everyone much given to patience and much given to thanks.
لیکن انہوں نے کہا: اے ہمارے رب، ہمارے سفروں کے درمیان فاصلے دور کر دے، یعنی انہوں نے ویران راستوں کا مطالبہ کیا تاکہ وہ غریبوں پر اپنی برتری جتا سکیں۔ وہ اس نعمت پر اکڑ گئے تھے اور آسانی سے اکتا گئے تھے۔ اور انہوں نے اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا، تو اللہ نے انہیں لوگوں کی زبان پر ایک کہانی بنا دیا اور انہیں بالکل بکھیر دیا۔ بےشک اس میں ہر اس شخص کے لیے نشانیاں ہیں جو بہت صبر کرنے والا اور بہت شکر ادا کرنے والا ہو۔
