وَمَن يَكْسِبْ إِثْمًا فَإِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُۥ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِۦ وَكَانَ ٱللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
And whoever earns a sin earns it only against himself; God is knowing, wise. The commentaries put it beside the ayah that follows: what a man does stays on him, until he throws it at someone innocent and takes on that second load too.
اور جو کوئی گناہ کمائے تو وہ اسے صرف اپنے ہی خلاف کماتا ہے، اور اللہ خوب جاننے والا، بڑی حکمت والا ہے۔ مفسرین اسے اگلی آیت کے ساتھ ملا کر بیان کرتے ہیں: انسان کا عمل اسی پر رہتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ وہ اسے کسی بےگناہ پر ڈال دے اور یوں دوسرا بوجھ بھی اپنے سر لے لے۔
