إِنَّآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ كَمَآ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ وَٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَعِيسَىٰ وَأَيُّوبَ وَيُونُسَ وَهَٰرُونَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُورًا
We have revealed to you as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him; and We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the tribes, and Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron and Solomon; and We gave David the Psalms. The commentaries read it as the answer to the demand for a book from the sky: revelation to you runs in the line they already accept.
جس طرح ہم نے نوح علیہ السلام اور ان کے بعد آنے والے انبیاء کی طرف وحی بھیجی، اسی طرح ہم نے آپ کی طرف بھی وحی بھیجی۔ اور ہم نے ابراہیم، اسماعیل، اسحاق، یعقوب اور ان کی اولاد، عیسیٰ، ایوب، یونس، ہارون اور سلیمان علیہم السلام کی طرف بھی وحی بھیجی، اور داؤد علیہ السلام کو زبور عطا کی۔ یہ اسی سوال کا جواب ہے جو آسمانی کتاب اتارنے کے بارے میں کیا گیا تھا، کہ آپ پر وحی بھی اسی سلسلے سے ہے جسے وہ پہلے سے مانتے ہیں۔
