وَكَيْفَ تَأْخُذُونَهُۥ وَقَدْ أَفْضَىٰ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَأَخَذْنَ مِنكُم مِّيثَٰقًا غَلِيظًا
How could you take it back, when you have gone in to one another and they have taken a solemn pledge from you? The commentaries name the pledge together: what was given and taken at the contract itself — to keep in kindness or release with good treatment.
