وَلَا تَتَمَنَّوْا۟ مَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بِهِۦ بَعْضَكُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ لِّلرِّجَالِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبُوا۟ وَلِلنِّسَآءِ نَصِيبٌ مِّمَّا ٱكْتَسَبْنَ وَسْـَٔلُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمًا
Do not long for what God has given some of you above others. Men have a share of what they have earned, and women have a share of what they have earned. Ask God of His bounty; God knows everything. The commentaries read it as a cure for envy: seek the thing by working for it, not by wishing it away from someone else.
اس چیز کی تمنا مت کرو جو اللہ نے تم میں سے بعض کو بعض پر فضیلت کے طور پر دی ہے۔ مردوں کے لیے ان کی کمائی میں سے حصہ ہے، اور عورتوں کے لیے ان کی کمائی میں سے حصہ ہے۔ اللہ سے اس کا فضل مانگو، بےشک اللہ ہر چیز کو خوب جاننے والا ہے۔ مفسرین اسے حسد کا علاج قرار دیتے ہیں: جو چیز چاہیے اسے محنت سے حاصل کرو، نہ کہ کسی دوسرے سے چھین لینے کی خواہش سے۔
