ٱلرِّجَالُ قَوَّٰمُونَ عَلَى ٱلنِّسَآءِ بِمَا فَضَّلَ ٱللَّهُ بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ وَبِمَآ أَنفَقُوا۟ مِنْ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ فَٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُ قَٰنِتَٰتٌ حَٰفِظَٰتٌ لِّلْغَيْبِ بِمَا حَفِظَ ٱللَّهُ وَٱلَّٰتِى تَخَافُونَ نُشُوزَهُنَّ فَعِظُوهُنَّ وَٱهْجُرُوهُنَّ فِى ٱلْمَضَاجِعِ وَٱضْرِبُوهُنَّ فَإِنْ أَطَعْنَكُمْ فَلَا تَبْغُوا۟ عَلَيْهِنَّ سَبِيلًا إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيًّا كَبِيرًا
Men are the upholders of women, by what God has given the one above the other and by what they spend of their wealth. So the righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in their husbands' absence what God has guarded. As for those from whom you fear defiance, admonish them, leave them alone in the beds, and strike them; then if they obey you, seek no way against them. God is high, great.
مرد عورتوں پر نگہبان اور ذمہ دار ہیں، اس لیے کہ اللہ نے ان میں سے ایک کو دوسرے پر فضیلت دی ہے، اور اس لیے کہ وہ اپنا مال خرچ کرتے ہیں۔ سو نیک عورتیں فرمانبردار ہوتی ہیں، اور شوہر کی عدم موجودگی میں اس چیز کی حفاظت کرتی ہیں جس کی حفاظت اللہ نے چاہی ہے۔ اور جن عورتوں سے تمہیں نافرمانی کا خدشہ ہو، انہیں نصیحت کرو، پھر بستروں میں ان سے الگ ہو جاؤ، پھر انہیں مارو۔ پھر اگر وہ تمہاری بات مان لیں تو ان پر زیادتی کا کوئی راستہ مت ڈھونڈو۔ بےشک اللہ بہت بلند اور بہت بڑا ہے۔
