مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَيَقُولُونَ سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ غَيْرَ مُسْمَعٍ وَرَٰعِنَا لَيًّۢا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ وَطَعْنًا فِى ٱلدِّينِ وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا وَٱسْمَعْ وَٱنظُرْنَا لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ وَأَقْوَمَ وَلَٰكِن لَّعَنَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا
Among those who became Jews are some who shift words out of their places and say: we hear and we disobey, and hear as one who is not made to hear, and look at us — twisting with their tongues and stabbing at the religion. Had they said: we hear and we obey, and hear us, and look upon us, it would have been better for them and more upright. But God has cursed them for their refusal, so they do not believe except a few.
یہود میں سے کچھ لوگ ایسے ہیں جو الفاظ کو ان کی جگہوں سے ہٹا دیتے ہیں، اور کہتے ہیں: ہم نے سنا اور نافرمانی کی، اور سنو، تم سنوائے نہ جاؤ، اور راعنا — یہ سب اپنی زبانیں مروڑ کر اور دین پر طعنہ زنی کرتے ہوئے کہتے ہیں۔ اور اگر وہ کہتے: ہم نے سنا اور اطاعت کی، اور سنیے، اور ہماری طرف نظر کیجیے، تو یہ ان کے لیے بہتر اور زیادہ درست ہوتا۔ لیکن اللہ نے ان کے انکار کی وجہ سے ان پر لعنت کی، سو وہ ایمان نہیں لاتے سوائے تھوڑوں کے۔
