وَلَئِنْ أَصَٰبَكُمْ فَضْلٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ لَيَقُولَنَّ كَأَن لَّمْ تَكُنۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُۥ مَوَدَّةٌ يَٰلَيْتَنِى كُنتُ مَعَهُمْ فَأَفُوزَ فَوْزًا عَظِيمًا
And if a bounty from God reaches you, he says — as if there had been no affection between you and him — I wish I had been with them, then I would have won a great win. The commentaries note the give-away in the wording: a man who counts it as luck missed, not as a duty avoided.
اور اگر تمہیں اللہ کی طرف سے کوئی فضل پہنچے تو وہ ایسے کہتا ہے، گویا تمہارے اور اس کے درمیان کوئی محبت تھی ہی نہیں: کاش میں بھی ان کے ساتھ ہوتا تو بڑی کامیابی حاصل کر لیتا۔ مفسرین اس کے الفاظ ہی میں اس کا بھید کھول دیتے ہیں: یہ ایک ایسا شخص ہے جو اسے چھوٹا ہوا نصیب سمجھتا ہے، چھوڑا ہوا فرض نہیں۔
