فَمَا لَكُمْ فِى ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ فِئَتَيْنِ وَٱللَّهُ أَرْكَسَهُم بِمَا كَسَبُوٓا۟ أَتُرِيدُونَ أَن تَهْدُوا۟ مَنْ أَضَلَّ ٱللَّهُ وَمَن يُضْلِلِ ٱللَّهُ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُۥ سَبِيلًا
What is the matter with you, that you are two parties over the hypocrites, when God has thrown them back for what they earned? Do you want to guide the one God has let go astray? Whoever God lets go astray, you will find no road for him. The commentaries carry the same occasion: the believers split over what to do with a group who had gone back, and the ayah settled the argument.
تمہیں کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ تم منافقین کے بارے میں دو گروہ بن گئے ہو، حالانکہ اللہ نے انہیں ان کے اپنے کیے کی وجہ سے الٹا پھیر دیا ہے؟ کیا تم اسے ہدایت دینا چاہتے ہو جسے اللہ نے گمراہ کر دیا؟ اور جسے اللہ گمراہ کر دے، تم اس کے لیے کوئی راستہ ہرگز نہیں پاؤ گے۔ مفسرین یہی واقعہ بیان کرتے ہیں: مسلمان ایک ایسے گروہ کے بارے میں جو پیچھے پلٹ گیا تھا، آپس میں اختلاف کر بیٹھے تھے، اور اس آیت نے وہ اختلاف ختم کر دیا۔
