مَا جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ مِنۢ بَحِيرَةٍ وَلَا سَآئِبَةٍ وَلَا وَصِيلَةٍ وَلَا حَامٍ وَلَٰكِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ٱلْكَذِبَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْقِلُونَ
God has not appointed the bahira, or the saiba, or the wasila, or the hami. But those who refuse invent the lie against God, and most of them do not use reason. The commentaries describe them the same way: categories of livestock which the people of the days of ignorance dedicated to their gods and then forbade themselves, on no authority.
اللہ نے نہ بحیرہ کو مقرر کیا ہے، نہ سائبہ کو، نہ وصیلہ کو اور نہ حام کو، لیکن جن لوگوں نے کفر کیا وہ اللہ پر جھوٹ باندھتے ہیں، اور ان میں سے اکثر عقل سے کام نہیں لیتے۔ مفسرین ان چاروں ناموں کو زمانہ جاہلیت کے ان مویشیوں کی اقسام بتاتے ہیں جنہیں لوگ اپنے معبودوں کے نام پر بغیر کسی دلیل کے اپنے اوپر حرام کر لیتے تھے۔
