قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِى وَأَخِى فَٱفْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ
He said: my Lord, I have power over none but myself and my brother, so part us from these people who have broken out of obedience. The commentaries read it as the prayer of a leader who cannot compel a people to obey, and does not pretend that he can.
اس نے کہا: اے میرے رب، میں اپنے آپ اور اپنے بھائی کے سوا کسی پر اختیار نہیں رکھتا، سو تو ہمارے اور نافرمان قوم کے درمیان جدائی ڈال دے۔ مفسرین اسے اس رہنما کی دعا سمجھتے ہیں جو اپنی قوم کو زبردستی اطاعت پر مجبور نہیں کر سکتا اور اس کا دعویٰ بھی نہیں کرتا۔
