وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ وَمَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
And how do they make you their judge when the Torah is with them, containing God's ruling, and then after that they turn away? Those are not believers. The commentaries read the question as exposing the motive: they were not after the ruling, but after the easier one.
اور وہ آپ کو کیسے حَکَم بناتے ہیں جبکہ ان کے پاس تورات موجود ہے جس میں اللہ کا حکم درج ہے، پھر اس کے باوجود وہ منہ پھیر لیتے ہیں، اور وہ لوگ مومن نہیں ہیں۔ مفسرین اس سوال کو یوں بیان کرتے ہیں کہ وہ اصل حکم کے طلب گار نہیں تھے بلکہ آسان تر فیصلے کے طلب گار تھے۔
