وَلَوْ كَانُوا۟ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلنَّبِىِّ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مَا ٱتَّخَذُوهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءَ وَلَٰكِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَ
Had they believed in God, the Prophet and what was sent down to him, they would not have taken them as allies; but many of them have broken out of obedience.
اور اگر وہ اللہ پر، نبی پر اور ان کی طرف نازل کیے گئے پر ایمان لاتے تو انہیں دوست نہ بناتے، لیکن ان میں سے بہت سے نافرمان ہیں۔ مفسرین اسے ایک منطقی شرط سمجھتے ہیں کہ سچا ایمان اپنے دشمنوں سے دوستی کے ساتھ جمع نہیں ہو سکتا۔
