ٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
Know that God is severe in punishment, and that God is forgiving, merciful. The commentaries note the order of the two: the severity is put first, so that the forgiveness is not mistaken for licence.
جان لو کہ اللہ سخت عذاب دینے والا ہے، اور یہ بھی کہ اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔ مفسرین اس ترتیب پر توجہ دیتے ہیں کہ پہلے سختی کا ذکر آیا تاکہ بخشش کو لاپروائی کی اجازت نہ سمجھا جائے۔
