لَّقَدْ كُنتَ فِى غَفْلَةٍ مِّنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ ٱلْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٌ
You were heedless of this. Now the covering is lifted, and your sight today is sharp. The commentaries agree on what the covering was - the heedlessness itself, and being sunk in what can be touched and seen. Once it is taken away, the eye that denied is the eye that now sees.
تو اس سے غافل تھا۔ اب پردہ اٹھا دیا گیا ہے، اور آج تیری نظر تیز ہے۔ مفسرین اس بات پر متفق ہیں کہ یہ پردہ کیا تھا - وہ غفلت خود، اور محسوس اور نظر آنے والی چیزوں میں ڈوبے رہنا۔ جب وہ ہٹا دیا جاتا ہے تو جو آنکھ انکار کرتی تھی وہی آنکھ اب دیکھتی ہے۔
