بَلْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِىٓ أَمْرٍ مَّرِيجٍ
They denied the truth as soon as it reached them, and so their affair is unsettled. The commentaries find that confusion in their own shifting verdicts - the same man called a sorcerer, then a poet, then a soothsayer. One settled truth, met by answers that will not hold still.
