فَأَقْبَلَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ فِى صَرَّةٍ فَصَكَّتْ وَجْهَهَا وَقَالَتْ عَجُوزٌ عَقِيمٌ
His wife came forward crying out, and struck her face, and said: an old woman, barren. The commentaries read the cry as astonishment at the news, and her words as her own account of herself - too old, and one who had never borne a child.
ان کی بیوی چیختی ہوئی آگے بڑھیں اور اپنا چہرہ پیٹا اور کہا: میں تو ایک بوڑھی اور بانجھ عورت ہوں۔ مفسرین نے اس چیخ کو خبر سن کر حیرانی سمجھا ہے، اور ان کے الفاظ کو اپنے حال کا بیان قرار دیا ہے، یعنی وہ عمر رسیدہ تھیں اور کبھی کوئی بچہ جن نہیں سکی تھیں۔
