وَمَا خَلَقْتُ ٱلْجِنَّ وَٱلْإِنسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
I created the jinn and mankind only that they should worship Me. The commentaries read the words as naming the purpose they were made for, and note that a purpose stated is not the same as a purpose reached - many did not.
