أَفَرَءَيْتَ ٱلَّذِى تَوَلَّىٰ
Have you seen the one who turned away? The commentaries carry an occasion for this line and the ones after it, but they do not name the same man, and so the reading names no one: what they hold in common is the conduct described, not the person it is pinned to.
کیا تم نے اس شخص کو دیکھا جس نے منہ موڑ لیا؟ مفسرین اس آیت اور اس کے بعد والی آیات کا کوئی نہ کوئی موقع بیان کرتے ہیں، لیکن وہ ایک ہی آدمی کا نام نہیں لیتے، اس لیے یہ بیان کسی کا نام نہیں لیتا: ان میں جو چیز مشترک ہے وہ بیان کیا گیا طرزِ عمل ہے، وہ شخص نہیں جس سے اسے منسوب کیا جاتا ہے۔
