فَكَانَ قَابَ قَوْسَيْنِ أَوْ أَدْنَىٰ
Until he was two bows-length away, or nearer. The commentaries measure it by the bow of the Arabs, the span between its grip and its curved end, and the point of the measure is how little distance was left.
یہاں تک کہ وہ دو کمانوں کے فاصلے پر آ گئے، یا اس سے بھی زیادہ قریب۔ مفسرین نے اس کا اندازہ عربوں کی کمان سے لگایا ہے، یعنی اس کی گرفت اور اس کے خمیدہ سرے کے درمیان کا فاصلہ، اور اس پیمانے کا مقصد یہ بتانا ہے کہ کتنا کم فاصلہ باقی رہ گیا تھا۔
