وَإِن يَرَوْا۟ ءَايَةً يُعْرِضُوا۟ وَيَقُولُوا۟ سِحْرٌ مُّسْتَمِرٌّ
And if they see a sign they turn away and say: sorcery, and a lasting one. The commentaries gloss the word that follows as firm and continuing, so the charge is not that the sign was slight but that it was a strong working of the same kind they already refused.
