ثُلَّةٌ مِّنَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ
A great number from those of old. The commentaries read those of old here as the earlier communities, the same stretch of generations named of the foremost, and note that the sura repeats the phrase deliberately so the second group can be measured against the first.
پہلے لوگوں میں سے ایک بہت بڑی جماعت۔ مفسرین یہاں پہلے لوگوں سے مراد وہی پرانی امتیں لیتے ہیں، وہی طویل نسلوں کا سلسلہ جو سابقین مقربین کے ساتھ بیان ہوا تھا، اور نوٹ کرتے ہیں کہ سورت نے یہ عبارت جان بوجھ کر دہرائی تاکہ اس دوسرے گروہ کا پہلے گروہ سے موازنہ کیا جا سکے۔
