وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦٓ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلصِّدِّيقُونَ وَٱلشُّهَدَآءُ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ لَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ وَنُورُهُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ
And those who believe in God and His messengers - those are the wholly truthful; and the witnesses are with their Lord, having their reward and their light. And those who refused and called Our signs false - those are the companions of the Blaze. The commentaries divide over how far the first clause reaches, and agree on what the two words name: the ones who went furthest in holding the message true, and the ones who stand as witnesses.
جو لوگ اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لائے، وہی صدیق اور اپنے رب کے نزدیک شہداء ہیں، ان کے لیے ان کا اجر اور ان کا نور ہے، اور جنہوں نے کفر کیا اور ہماری آیتوں کو جھٹلایا، وہی جہنمی ہیں۔ زمخشری کی تشریح کے مطابق اس سے مراد یہ ہے کہ اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لانے والے اللہ کے نزدیک صدیقین اور شہداء کے درجے میں ہیں، یعنی وہ لوگ جو ایمان لانے میں سب سے آگے تھے اور اللہ کی راہ میں شہید ہوئے، تو انہیں انہی کی طرح اجر اور نور دیا جائے گا۔ احسن البیان میں لکھا ہے کہ بعض مفسرین یہاں وقف کرتے ہیں اور والشہداء کو الگ جملہ سمجھتے ہیں، اور یہ کہ صدیقیت کمالِ ایمان اور کمالِ صدق کا نام ہے، اور ایک حدیث میں آیا ہے کہ آدمی ہمیشہ سچ بولتا اور سچ ہی کی تلاش میں رہتا ہے یہاں تک کہ اللہ کے ہاں صدیق لکھ دیا جاتا ہے۔
