سَابِقُوٓا۟ إِلَىٰ مَغْفِرَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَجَنَّةٍ عَرْضُهَا كَعَرْضِ ٱلسَّمَآءِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ أُعِدَّتْ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلْفَضْلِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ
Race towards forgiveness from your Lord, and a Garden whose breadth is like the breadth of the heaven and the earth, made ready for those who believe in God and His messengers. That is the bounty of God, which He gives to whom He wills, and God is the Owner of great bounty. The commentaries gloss the breadth as the two of them laid out together, and note that the sura, having just said what this world is, does not say to leave it but to run for something else.
اپنے رب کی مغفرت کی طرف اور اس جنت کی طرف دوڑو جس کی وسعت آسمان اور زمین کی وسعت جیسی ہے، جو ان لوگوں کے لیے تیار کی گئی ہے جو اللہ اور اس کے رسولوں پر ایمان لائے، یہ اللہ کا فضل ہے، جسے چاہے دیتا ہے، اور اللہ بہت بڑے فضل والا ہے۔ زمخشری کی تشریح کے مطابق سابقوا کا مطلب ہے دوڑ پڑو جیسے دوڑ کے میدان میں مقابلہ کرنے والے اپنے ساتھیوں سے آگے بڑھنے کی کوشش کرتے ہیں۔ سدی کا قول نقل کیا گیا ہے کہ اس جنت کی وسعت سات آسمانوں اور سات زمینوں کی وسعت جیسی ہے۔ زمخشری یہ بھی بتاتے ہیں کہ وسعت کا ذکر کیا گیا لمبائی کا نہیں، کیونکہ جس چیز کی چوڑائی اور لمبائی دونوں ہوں اس کی چوڑائی عموماً لمبائی سے کم ہوتی ہے، تو جب چوڑائی ہی اتنی وسیع بیان کی جائے تو لمبائی کا اندازہ خود لگایا جا سکتا ہے۔
