لَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلَنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَأَنزَلْنَا مَعَهُمُ ٱلْكِتَٰبَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ لِيَقُومَ ٱلنَّاسُ بِٱلْقِسْطِ وَأَنزَلْنَا ٱلْحَدِيدَ فِيهِ بَأْسٌ شَدِيدٌ وَمَنَٰفِعُ لِلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعْلَمَ ٱللَّهُ مَن يَنصُرُهُۥ وَرُسُلَهُۥ بِٱلْغَيْبِ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِىٌّ عَزِيزٌ
We have sent Our messengers with the clear proofs, and sent down with them the Book and the Balance, so that people may stand by fair dealing. And We sent down iron, in which is great force and uses for people, and so that God may know who helps Him and His messengers unseen. God is Strong, Mighty. The commentaries gloss the Balance as justice itself, and read the two things sent down as a pair covering what is needed: the measure that shows what is right, and the metal that can hold it up.
ہم نے اپنے رسولوں کو واضح دلیلوں کے ساتھ بھیجا، اور ان کے ساتھ کتاب اور میزان اتاری تاکہ لوگ انصاف پر قائم رہیں، اور ہم نے لوہا اتارا جس میں سخت طاقت اور لوگوں کے لیے فائدے ہیں، اور تاکہ اللہ جان لے کہ کون اس کی اور اس کے رسولوں کی بن دیکھے مدد کرتا ہے، بےشک اللہ طاقتور اور زبردست ہے۔ زمخشری روایت نقل کرتے ہیں کہ جبریل علیہ السلام میزان لے کر اترے اور اسے حضرت نوح کو دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اپنی قوم سے کہہ دو کہ اس سے تولا کریں۔ احسن البیان کے نزدیک میزان سے مراد انصاف ہے، یعنی ہم نے لوگوں کو انصاف کرنے کا حکم دیا۔ بیان القرآن اس آیت کو پوری سورت کا نقطۂ عروج قرار دیتے ہیں، اور کہتے ہیں کہ اس کا مضمون آج کے مسلمانوں کے لیے خاص طور پر اہم ہے کیونکہ دین کا اصل تصور مسخ ہو چکا ہے۔
