هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُنَزِّلُ عَلَىٰ عَبْدِهِۦٓ ءَايَٰتٍۭ بَيِّنَٰتٍ لِّيُخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ بِكُمْ لَرَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ
He is the One who sends down clear signs upon His servant, to bring you out of the darknesses into the light. And God is Gentle to you, Merciful. The commentaries gloss the darknesses and the light as the refusal and the belief, and note that the bringing out is His act, which is why the two names close the line.
اللہ اپنے بندے، یعنی نبی کریم، پر واضح نشانیاں نازل کرتا ہے تاکہ وہ تمہیں اندھیروں سے نکال کر روشنی کی طرف لے آئے، اور اللہ تم پر بہت شفیق اور مہربان ہے۔ جلالین کے مطابق اندھیروں سے مراد کفر اور روشنی سے مراد ایمان ہے۔ زمخشری اس نکالنے کو دو طرح بیان کرتے ہیں: یا تو اللہ خود اپنی آیتوں کے ذریعے نکالتا ہے، یا رسول اپنی دعوت کے ذریعے۔ مفسرین اس بات کی طرف بھی توجہ دلاتے ہیں کہ آیت کے آخر میں دو نام، رؤوف اور رحیم، اس لیے آئے ہیں کہ یہ نکالنا خود اللہ ہی کا فعل اور احسان ہے۔
