إِنَّمَا ٱلنَّجْوَىٰ مِنَ ٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ لِيَحْزُنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَلَيْسَ بِضَآرِّهِمْ شَيْـًٔا إِلَّا بِإِذْنِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ
Secret talk is only from Satan, to grieve those who believe. And it cannot harm them at all except by God's leave. And in God let the believers put their trust. The commentaries read the grieving as the whole aim of it: the harm intended is what the watching believer imagines is being said, and the answer given is not to stop the talk but to stop supposing.
بیشک بری اور ناپسندیدہ سرگوشی صرف شیطان کی طرف سے ہوتی ہے، وہ اس سے مومنوں کو غمگین کرنا چاہتا ہے جو یہ گمان کریں کہ ان کے خلاف کوئی سازش ہو رہی ہے، اور یہ سرگوشی مومنوں کو اللہ کی اجازت کے بغیر کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا سکتی۔ اور مومنوں کو اسی غم کو دور کرنے کے لیے صرف اللہ پر بھروسا کرنا چاہیے۔ مفسرین نے اس غم کو وسوسے کا اصل مقصد قرار دیا ہے، یعنی جو نقصان مقصود ہے وہ وہی ہے جو دیکھنے والا مومن یہ سوچ کر خود میں پیدا کرتا ہے کہ اس کے بارے میں کچھ کہا جا رہا ہے، اور اس کا علاج بات چیت روکنا نہیں بلکہ بدگمانی چھوڑنا ہے۔
