يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمْ تَفَسَّحُوا۟ فِى ٱلْمَجَٰلِسِ فَٱفْسَحُوا۟ يَفْسَحِ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَإِذَا قِيلَ ٱنشُزُوا۟ فَٱنشُزُوا۟ يَرْفَعِ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنكُمْ وَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْعِلْمَ دَرَجَٰتٍ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٌ
O you who believe, when you are told to make room in the gatherings, then make room - God will make room for you. And when you are told to rise up, then rise up - God raises those of you who believe, and those given knowledge, in ranks. And God is aware of what you do. The commentaries set the occasion in the Prophet's own gathering, where people pressed close to be near him and to hear, and read the reward as being of the same kind as the act: room made for room made.
اے ایمان والو! جب تم سے کہا جائے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی مجلسوں میں جگہ کشادہ کرو تو کشادہ کر دو، اللہ تمہیں دنیا اور آخرت میں کشادگی دے گا، اور جب کہا جائے کہ اٹھ جاؤ تاکہ دوسروں کو جگہ ملے تو اٹھ جاؤ، اللہ تم میں سے ایمان والوں اور علم والوں کے درجات بلند کرے گا، اور اللہ تمہارے تمام اعمال سے باخبر ہے۔ مفسرین نے اس حکم کا موقع خود نبی کی مجلس میں بتایا ہے جہاں لوگ ان کے قریب ہونے کے لیے بھیڑ لگاتے تھے، اور بدلے کو عمل کی جنس سے بتایا ہے، یعنی جس نے دوسرے کو جگہ دی اللہ نے اسے وسعت دی۔
