يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا نَٰجَيْتُمُ ٱلرَّسُولَ فَقَدِّمُوا۟ بَيْنَ يَدَىْ نَجْوَىٰكُمْ صَدَقَةً ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَأَطْهَرُ فَإِن لَّمْ تَجِدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
O you who believe, when you consult the Messenger privately, put a charity before your consultation. That is better for you and purer. But if you do not find the means, then God is Forgiving, Merciful. The commentaries read the ruling as doing several things at once: honouring the Messenger, putting something into a poor man's hand, and thinning out the requests of people who only wanted his time.
اے ایمان والو! جب تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سرگوشی کرنا چاہو تو اپنی اس سرگوشی سے پہلے کچھ صدقہ دے دو، یہ تمہارے لیے بہتر اور زیادہ پاکیزہ ہے، پھر اگر تمہیں کچھ نہ ملے تو اللہ بخشنے والا اور رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ مفسرین نے اس حکم کی تفسیر یہ کی ہے کہ اس میں کئی مقاصد جمع ہیں: رسول کی تعظیم، کسی فقیر کے ہاتھ میں کچھ دینا، اور ان لوگوں کو کم کرنا جو صرف وقت گزارنے کے لیے سرگوشی چاہتے تھے۔
