أَعَدَّ ٱللَّهُ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ
God has prepared a severe punishment for them. Evil indeed is what they used to do. The commentaries read the closing clause as naming the cause rather than adding a second charge: the punishment just promised is set against the acts of the two lines before it, the false oath and the friendship taken with people God is angry with.
اللہ نے ان منافقوں کے لیے آخرت میں سخت اور دردناک عذاب تیار کر رکھا ہے، بیشک برا تھا وہ عمل جو وہ کیا کرتے تھے یعنی جھوٹی قسمیں کھانا اور اللہ کے دشمنوں سے دوستی کرنا۔ مفسرین نے اس آخری جملے کی تفسیر سبب بیان کرنے کے طور پر کی ہے نہ کہ نیا الزام، یعنی وعدہ کیا گیا عذاب پہلے ذکر کیے گئے جھوٹے حلف اور غضب والوں سے دوستی سے جڑا ہے۔
