لَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ رَهْبَةً فِى صُدُورِهِم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ
You are a greater terror in their breasts than God. That is because they are a people who do not understand. The commentaries take the comparison as a statement of fact about them rather than about the two objects of fear, and read the closing clause as the reason: a man who has not grasped who God is will fear whatever is nearest and visible.
تم ان کے سینوں میں اللہ سے بھی زیادہ بڑی دہشت ہو۔ یہ اس لیے ہے کہ وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو سمجھ نہیں رکھتے۔ مفسرین اس موازنے کو خوف کی دو چیزوں کے بارے میں نہیں بلکہ خود ان لوگوں کے بارے میں ایک حقیقت بیان کرنے کے طور پر لیتے ہیں، اور آخری جملے کو وجہ کے طور پر پڑھتے ہیں: جس شخص نے یہ سمجھا ہی نہیں کہ اللہ کون ہے وہ ہر اس چیز سے ڈرے گا جو اس کے قریب اور نظر آنے والی ہو۔
