لَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ جَمِيعًا إِلَّا فِى قُرًى مُّحَصَّنَةٍ أَوْ مِن وَرَآءِ جُدُرٍۭ بَأْسُهُم بَيْنَهُمْ شَدِيدٌ تَحْسَبُهُمْ جَمِيعًا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ شَتَّىٰ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ
They will not fight you together except in fortified settlements or from behind walls. Their fighting among themselves is fierce. You reckon them as one, and their hearts are scattered. That is because they are a people who have no sense. The commentaries note the two halves say the same thing twice, once from outside and once from inside: what looks like a single body from a distance is not one, and that is why it will not stand in the open.
وہ تم سے اکٹھے ہو کر جنگ نہیں کریں گے سوائے قلعہ بند بستیوں میں یا دیواروں کے پیچھے سے۔ ان کی آپس کی لڑائی بہت سخت ہے۔ تم انہیں ایک سمجھتے ہو، جبکہ ان کے دل بکھرے ہوئے ہیں۔ یہ اس لیے ہے کہ وہ ایسے لوگ ہیں جو عقل نہیں رکھتے۔ مفسرین نوٹ کرتے ہیں کہ یہ دونوں حصے ایک ہی بات دو مرتبہ کہتے ہیں، ایک بار باہر سے اور ایک بار اندر سے: جو دور سے ایک جسم دکھائی دیتا ہے وہ درحقیقت ایک نہیں ہے، اور اسی لیے وہ کھلے میدان میں نہیں ٹھہر سکتے۔
