وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ كَٱلَّذِينَ نَسُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ أَنفُسَهُمْ أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ
And do not be like those who forgot God, so He made them forget themselves. Those are the ones who have left obedience. The commentaries put the whole weight on the second clause: what a man loses by forgetting God is not God but himself, because he stops being able to see his own gain and loss.
اور ان لوگوں کی طرح مت بنو جنہوں نے اللہ کو بھلا دیا، تو اللہ نے انہیں خود ان کی اپنی ذات ہی بھلا دی۔ یہی وہ لوگ ہیں جنہوں نے اطاعت چھوڑ دی۔ مفسرین پورا زور دوسرے جملے پر رکھتے ہیں: جو چیز انسان اللہ کو بھلا کر کھو دیتا ہے وہ اللہ نہیں بلکہ خود اس کی اپنی ذات ہے، کیونکہ وہ اپنے فائدے اور نقصان کو دیکھنے کی صلاحیت ہی کھو بیٹھتا ہے۔
