هُوَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِى لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَٰلِمُ ٱلْغَيْبِ وَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
He is God, other than whom there is no god - the Knower of the unseen and the seen. He is the Merciful, the Compassionate. The commentaries gloss the pair as covering everything without remainder, whichever way they take it: what is hidden and what is in the open.
وہی اللہ ہے جس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں - وہ چھپی اور ظاہر ہر چیز کو جاننے والا ہے۔ وہی نہایت مہربان اور نہایت رحم کرنے والا ہے۔ مفسرین اس جوڑے کی وضاحت اس طرح کرتے ہیں کہ یہ ہر چیز کو بغیر کسی کمی کے شامل کرتے ہیں، چاہے اسے کسی بھی طرح لیا جائے: جو چھپا ہوا ہے اور جو کھلا ہوا ہے۔
