59:7

What God gave back to His Messenger from the people of the settlements belongs to God and to the Messenger, and to the near of kin, the orphans, the needy and the wayfarer - so that it does not become a thing circulating among the rich among you. And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, stop. And be mindful of God; God is severe in punishment. The commentaries read the middle clause as the reason for the whole list, and note that the ruling widens from one battle to a standing principle in the two commands that follow it.
