يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّبِىُّ إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُ يُبَايِعْنَكَ عَلَىٰٓ أَن لَّا يُشْرِكْنَ بِٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا وَلَا يَسْرِقْنَ وَلَا يَزْنِينَ وَلَا يَقْتُلْنَ أَوْلَٰدَهُنَّ وَلَا يَأْتِينَ بِبُهْتَٰنٍ يَفْتَرِينَهُۥ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِنَّ وَأَرْجُلِهِنَّ وَلَا يَعْصِينَكَ فِى مَعْرُوفٍ فَبَايِعْهُنَّ وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُنَّ ٱللَّهَ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ
O Prophet, when believing women come to you pledging to you that they will set up nothing as a partner with God, and will not steal, and will not commit unlawful intercourse, and will not kill their children, and will not bring a slander they have invented between their hands and their feet, and will not disobey you in what is right - then accept their pledge and ask God to forgive them. God is Forgiving, Merciful. The commentaries gloss the killing of children as the burying of infant daughters that was done before Islam, and the invented slander as a woman attaching a child to her husband that is not his.
اے نبی! جب مومن عورتیں آپ کے پاس آ کر بیعت کریں کہ وہ اللہ کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہیں ٹھہرائیں گی، اور چوری نہیں کریں گی، اور زنا نہیں کریں گی، اور اپنی اولاد کو قتل نہیں کریں گی، اور اپنے ہاتھوں اور پاؤں کے درمیان کوئی بہتان گھڑ کر نہیں لائیں گی، اور نیک بات میں آپ کی نافرمانی نہیں کریں گی، تو ان سے بیعت لے لیں اور ان کے لیے اللہ سے بخشش مانگیں، بےشک اللہ بخشنے والا مہربان ہے۔ زمخشری اولاد کے قتل سے مراد زمانہ جاہلیت میں بیٹیوں کو زندہ دفن کرنا بتاتے ہیں، اور بہتان گھڑنے سے مراد یہ لیتے ہیں کہ کوئی عورت کسی بچے کو اٹھا کر اپنے شوہر سے کہہ دے کہ یہ تمہارا بچہ ہے، حالانکہ ایسا نہیں ہوتا۔ صحیح بخاری میں حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ مومن عورتوں کا امتحان اسی آیت سے لیتے تھے۔
