وَإِذَا رَأَوْا۟ تِجَٰرَةً أَوْ لَهْوًا ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ إِلَيْهَا وَتَرَكُوكَ قَآئِمًا قُلْ مَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيْرٌ مِّنَ ٱللَّهْوِ وَمِنَ ٱلتِّجَٰرَةِ وَٱللَّهُ خَيْرُ ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ
When they saw a trade or a diversion they broke away to it and left him standing. The commentaries note that it was the trade they went for rather than the diversion, and that he was on his feet delivering the address when a trading caravan came in. Say: what is with God is better than the diversion and better than the trade, and God is the best of providers.
اور جب انہوں نے کوئی تجارت یا کھیل تماشا دیکھا تو اس کی طرف بھاگ نکلے اور آپ کو کھڑا چھوڑ دیا، کہہ دیجیے: جو اللہ کے پاس ہے وہ کھیل اور تجارت دونوں سے بہتر ہے، اور اللہ سب سے بہتر رزق دینے والا ہے۔ زمخشری روایت نقل کرتے ہیں کہ اہلِ مدینہ کو بھوک اور سخت مہنگائی کا سامنا تھا، تو دحیہ بن خلیفہ شام کے تیل کی تجارت لے کر آئے جبکہ نبی ﷺ جمعہ کا خطبہ دے رہے تھے، لوگ یہ ڈر کر کہ کوئی اور ان سے پہلے نہ لے لے، ان کی طرف کھڑے ہو گئے، حتیٰ کہ آپ ﷺ کے ساتھ بہت کم لوگ رہ گئے، کہا گیا کہ آٹھ، یا گیارہ، یا بارہ، یا چالیس۔ ابن کثیر بتاتے ہیں کہ اللہ ان لوگوں پر عتاب فرماتا ہے جو جمعہ کے دن خطبہ چھوڑ کر اس تجارتی قافلے کی طرف گئے جو اس دن مدینہ پہنچا تھا۔ قرطبی صحیح مسلم سے حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ کی روایت نقل کرتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ جمعہ کے دن کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے۔
