بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ إِذَا جَآءَكَ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَ قَالُوا۟ نَشْهَدُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّكَ لَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَ لَكَٰذِبُونَ
When the hypocrites come to him they say: we bear witness that you are God's messenger. The words themselves are true, and God confirms them. What God calls a lie is not the statement but the claim carried inside it — that the heart agrees with the tongue. A testimony the heart does not stand behind is not testimony at all.
جب منافق آپ کے پاس آتے ہیں تو کہتے ہیں: ہم گواہی دیتے ہیں کہ آپ اللہ کے رسول ہیں۔ یہ الفاظ خود سچے ہیں اور اللہ ان کی تصدیق بھی کرتا ہے۔ اللہ جس چیز کو جھوٹ قرار دیتا ہے وہ بیان نہیں بلکہ اس میں چھپا ہوا دعویٰ ہے، یعنی یہ کہ دل زبان کی تصدیق کرتا ہے۔ زمخشری وضاحت کرتے ہیں کہ ان کا مطلب اپنے قول ہم گواہی دیتے ہیں سے یہ تھا کہ ان کے دل ان کی زبانوں سے موافقت رکھتے تھے، تو اللہ نے انہیں اسی موافقت کے دعوے میں جھٹلا دیا۔ علامہ سعدی لکھتے ہیں کہ جب نبی ﷺ مدینہ تشریف لائے اور وہاں اسلام زیادہ اور مضبوط ہو گیا، تو اوس و خزرج میں سے کچھ لوگ ایمان ظاہر اور کفر چھپانے لگے تاکہ ان کا مقام باقی رہے اور ان کا خون محفوظ رہے۔
