إِن تَتُوبَآ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ صَغَتْ قُلُوبُكُمَا وَإِن تَظَٰهَرَا عَلَيْهِ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ مَوْلَىٰهُ وَجِبْرِيلُ وَصَٰلِحُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ ظَهِيرٌ
If the two of them turn to God, there is cause for it, for their hearts had swerved — swerved, as the commentaries put it, from what was owed to him, which was to want what he wanted and dislike what he disliked. And if they support one another against him, then God is his Protector, and Gabriel, and the righteous among the believers, and the angels after that are his support.
اگر تم دونوں اللہ کی طرف توبہ کرو تو یہ اس لیے ہے کہ تمہارے دل ٹیڑھے ہو چکے تھے، اور اگر تم دونوں نبی کے خلاف ایک دوسرے کی مدد کرو تو اللہ ہی اس کا مولا ہے اور جبریل اور نیک مومن اور اس کے بعد فرشتے بھی اس کے مددگار ہیں۔ قرطبی وضاحت کرتے ہیں کہ اس سے مراد حفصہ اور عائشہ ہیں، انہیں توبہ پر ابھارا گیا اس چیز پر جو ان سے رسول اللہ ﷺ کی محبت کے خلاف میلان کی صورت میں ہوئی، اور فقد صغت قلوبکما کا مطلب ہے تمہارے دل ٹیڑھے ہو گئے۔ زمخشری بتاتے ہیں کہ ان تتوبا حفصہ اور عائشہ سے خطاب ہے، التفات کے انداز میں، تاکہ ان دونوں کی ملامت میں زیادہ بلیغ ہو۔
