وَقَالُوا۟ لَوْ كُنَّا نَسْمَعُ أَوْ نَعْقِلُ مَا كُنَّا فِىٓ أَصْحَٰبِ ٱلسَّعِيرِ
And they say: had we truly listened, or used our reason, we would not be among the companions of the Blaze. The commentaries pair the two the same way — hearing that accepts, and reason that reflects; either would have saved them.
