إِنَّا بَلَوْنَٰهُمْ كَمَا بَلَوْنَآ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْجَنَّةِ إِذْ أَقْسَمُوا۟ لَيَصْرِمُنَّهَا مُصْبِحِينَ
We have tested them as We tested the owners of the garden, when they swore they would harvest its fruit in the morning. The commentaries carry the occasion together: the people of Mecca were tried with famine as those garden-owners were tried, and the men swore to pick at dawn so that the poor would not see them and would get nothing.
ہم نے انہیں اسی طرح آزمایا جیسے ہم نے باغ والوں کو آزمایا، جب انہوں نے قسم کھائی کہ وہ صبح ہی اس کا پھل کاٹ لیں گے۔ مفسرین اس واقعے کا پس منظر ملا کر بیان کرتے ہیں: مکہ والوں کو قحط کے ساتھ آزمایا گیا جیسے ان باغ والوں کو آزمایا گیا تھا، اور ان لوگوں نے صبح سویرے پھل توڑنے کی قسم کھائی تاکہ غریب انہیں نہ دیکھیں اور انہیں کچھ نہ ملے۔
