فَعَصَوْا۟ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً
They disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a grip that grew ever tighter — a punishment mounting in severity as their deeds had mounted.
