قَالَ أَنظِرْنِىٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ
He said: give me respite until the Day they are raised. The commentaries note that the request is for a delay in the sentence, not for a pardon: he asks not to be finished with now.
ابلیس نے اللہ کی رحمت سے مایوس ہو کر عرض کیا: مجھے قیامت کے دن تک مہلت دے دے۔ مفسرین بیان کرتے ہیں کہ یہ درخواست دراصل سزا میں تاخیر کی تھی، معافی کی نہیں: وہ یہ چاہتا تھا کہ ابھی اسی وقت اس کا کام تمام نہ کیا جائے۔
