قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَآ أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْخَٰسِرِينَ
They said: our Lord, we have wronged ourselves; and if You do not forgive us and have mercy on us, we will be among the losers. The commentaries observe that they asked for nothing by name: they stated their state and left the rest to Him.
دونوں نے کہا: اے ہمارے رب! ہم نے اپنی جانوں پر ظلم کیا ہے، اور اگر تو نے ہمیں معاف نہ کیا اور ہم پر رحم نہ کیا تو ہم ضرور نقصان اٹھانے والوں میں سے ہو جائیں گے۔ مفسرین کا کہنا ہے کہ انہوں نے کسی چیز کا نام لے کر کچھ نہیں مانگا: صرف اپنی حالت بیان کر دی اور باقی معاملہ اپنے رب پر چھوڑ دیا۔
