وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا
And God made the earth a spread-out expanse for you — spread out, the commentaries gloss, so that walking on it and settling on it are possible at all.
اور اللہ نے تمہارے لیے زمین کو ایک بچھونا بنایا۔ قرطبی وضاحت کرتے ہیں کہ بساطا کا مطلب ہے بچھی ہوئی۔ تفسیر مقباس کے مطابق یہ ایک دلیل اور احسان ہے، اور بساط سے مراد وہ چیز ہے جو سونے یا بیٹھنے کے لیے بچھائی جائے، کپڑا یا قالین کی طرح، تو زمین کو بساط کہنا ایک بلیغ تشبیہ ہے۔
